MIPPA: Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008

MIPPA (Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008) is primarily known for eliminating cuts in payments to Medicare Providers. It also contains a great deal if improvements to the Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs) that pay the Medicare Part B Premium ($96.40 per month) who do not qualify for that to be paid directly by Medi-Cal.
There is also information regarding the elimination of Medi-Cal's Estate Recovery Program for anyone enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program.
In fact, in California, anyone already with an MSP is not subject to the Estate Recovery Program. Who knew?

Here's a link to a document that breaks it all down quite well.
