Thing is, we really don't know exactly what it means, however there is little doubt that the cuts will result in an enormous chasm between those who retain their health care in this state and those who lose it.
Many of you know that I don't like the term "lose" when it comes to income and health care coverage benefits. "Replacing" those benefits with better income and health care coverage is the ideal.
Not now, however. Health care benefits, particularly those of literally hundreds of thousands of children ineligible for Medi-Cal will be lost. This is unconscionable. The one small hope we have it that the legislature will challenge the legality of the Schwarzenegger's line item veto. If that is successful, those monies presumably will be restored... otherwise, we're going to have our work cut out for us.
